Google Wave

I got very excited at the and spent an hour and half watching its entire demo. What an amazing technology! Great technologies come out all the time, but from time to time something so out of this world surfaces and the only thing you can say is “WOW”!!

is said to be the next “”, that’s a modest description. The demo shows how interactive and real time Wave is, no more waiting for the other person to reply to your or , you get to see the reply as the other side types, character by character, just like a real face to face conversation would. The technology put the brain back to the server side (with the exceptions of client-side extensions), having all the user generated contents resides on the host allows a real time collaboration for all of its shared users. Goodbye to the individually sent emails, it’s similar to online GoogleDocs, Wiki or bulletin board for everyone to collaborate on.

Wave effectively combines pretty much all the communication medium we use today: , forum, blog, chat, , , evite, , wiki, online meeting and etc. Since everything is centrally stored, sync is no longer a concern, IMAP then is obsolete?

Editing feature is also amazing, the spellchecker is no longer individual word focused, Wave’s spellchecker interpret your sentence for meaning and correct the misspelled word accordingly. So it knows that “been soup” should really meant “bean soup”. How cool is that?!?! Almost as cool as disk defragmenter you can use to clean up your PC!

Watch the demo, it is long but entertaining. The last part of the demo really blew me away, with the help of add-on plugin, the real time conversation on Wave can be translated between 40+ languages, as you type! Talk about a world without boundaries, with this amazing thing, you can really talk to anyone from any part of the world in the language you are comfortable with.

Ok, I am going to bed, just couldn’t resist to blog a bit about this “historical event”.
