Where My iPhone At?!
Apple did it again! It seems every product they make is packed with “WOW” factors. I upgraded to the latest iPhone 3.0 firmware as it was released today, the downloading, backup and upgrading took awhile, but the end result was well worth the wait, in fact, my iPhone feels like a brand new phone!
One of the coolest new 3.0 feature by far is the “Find My iPhone”. For MobileMe subscribers, if you ever miss place your iPhone, you can use the MobileMe web interface to see where you left it (cell tower triangulation?) and send a message and alarm to the phone so whoever pick it up can contact you… At the worst case, you can remotely wipe out all the data! That’s badass!
Well, I did a test, the triangulation took a minute or two, and the result was surprisingly accurate! My phone displayed the message and alarm I sent almost instantaneously. I didn’t have the guts to remote wipe my data – Mac backup – I will just take Apple’s words for it, I am sure it works.
