It is still a bit chilly but is definitely here, how do I know? Well, people around me are all watery-eyed, sneezing and nose running, symptoms of

16 of us went out to the Joseph D. Grant park last weekend for some healthy group activity, which involved BBQ and plenty of volleyball. Victor finally sent me the photos from the event, so here they are!

We all had a good time, and this weekend we are going hiking. Well, I will have to see if I can go or not, since my skin rash (possibility due to encountering poison oak during last weekend’s BBQ) is still flaring up. Hope I can go…

Yup, it was my birthday yesterday 4/5, 32nd to be exact. I had asked Vivian, Nancy and the rest of my closest friends to skip any celebration they had in mind for me. After 31 birthdays, I just don’t see why birthdays are anything worthy of a celebration, it has slowly become a day to be dread about instead. ;-)

Nah, I am half joking, no one likes to see wrinkles creep up on their face, but getting old is not entirely bad. The experience and wisdom (humm… I hope I am gaining wisdom) only comes with age, and personal and professional advancement require time as well. I am definitely enjoying the ride so far, looking forward to every new day.

It is very touching to see all the birthday greetings I received from friends today, I feel lucky and blessed. Thank you guys for thinking of me and taking the time to wish me a happy birthday, that’s the best part of any birthday…

Here are few of birthday greetings I got on , love it!

Another year, another , and new to this year, the date has gained another important recognition — Lele’s ! (you probably thought I was going to say iPhone3G launch huh? heehee)

First, let’s talk about the … no this is not our wedding anniverary, which is 9/16; has always been special to Vivian and me as it marks the first day we started dating back in 2002. That makes today the 6th year !! Woo-hoo! GO US! The long journey we had together led to our marriage, which we are still receiving wonderful blessings and wishes from friends around the :

“看到你们俩已经喜结连理,乐得我差点跳起来,第一反应就是拨通了selina(蔡蔡)的电话:你还记得那个佳英么?他和VIV修成正果了哦~~真的太好了呢!”
– 寿寿 @ 2008.07.11

vs. 9/16, although we treasure both dates, Vivian and I have always favored a bit more, since that was the date we set things in motion and tied our faiths together… and that’s the “real” we’ll be celebrating going forward. Surprised?

Six years, that’s a long time, 1/5 of my entire life so far! In the past six years, we have grown so much and a lot of things has happened. During the six years, I have changed my jobs three times and eventually we both left the corporate and called ourselves “small business owners” (that’s another story entirely); we have adopted two cats, two dogs and four turtles; we have moved five times in total and lived on two continents… Only one thing remained constant — the faith we have in our relationship, we’re ready to celebrate the together, in many many years to come… Love you bb!

Now, Lele’s ! Yup our Shiba Lele is turning 1 today! First year has been rough for him, the poor thing was hit by a car, broke his right rare hip, but recovered, fully! He also had to endure more than a month wearing a cone around his head in order for his eye infection to heal, and that also healed very nicely. Lele not only turned out to be a handsome little Shiba, he is a smart little fellow too! From sit, stay, roll, spin to high-5 and bark, he has a whole bag of treat to showoff (when he is in good mood, of course, afterall, he is a Shiba-Inu!)

Congratulation BaoBei!! (the name Vivian likes to call him) Happy !!!

Oh, one more thing, wondering how we are celebrating today? Well, we have been sitting here in line outside of the AT&T store since 4am for the new iPhone3G, consider it as a gift we give to each other… and we’ll probably wrap up the day with a traditional sushi meal like we do on every . ;-)

Vivian and I have been working our asses off in the past week, you can call it Spring Cleaning. Last Friday we throw out 6x 50 gallon garbage bin worth of junk, and two more bins just filled up since then. We put away ~20 boxes of books, electronics and things, now our home is “lean and clean”. Just for the heck of it, we re-arranged the home too, the previous dinning room is now the family room, and the previous large living room is the new small living room and handsome dinning room. To welcome the beautiful spring weather, we introduce the color of green throughout the living room, green here, green there, green everywhere, tastefully that is…

I think we are done with the cleanup, good thing too, I am dirty, sweaty and beat! Frank and Connie came over to deliver the lounge chair we ordered. Too lazy to go out or cook, we dug out the age old Angus burger patties and Italian sausages from the freezer, fired up the grill for the very first time in 2008, and had ourselves a tasty, overstuffed meal!

We officially ushered in the season of 2008, hello Summer!

Our QiuQiu passed away for more than half year now, Vivian and I have questioned ourselves if we wanted to take on another dog or not many times. The short time we had with QiuQiu was wonderful, and we’ll want to repeat and extend the experience. And in the back of our minds, we know that having another dog means we’ll have to devote time and energy to take care of it. Giving the hectic schedule we have today, we just had to extra sure that we are ready.

We approached the same breeder Jacey where we got QiuQiu, sharing our lost of QiuQiu, she gave us the first pick out the latest litter. Once again, Frank and Connie donated their time, and even drove us five hours to visit the pups.

Our new Shiba -- Lele

Our new Shiba --

Shiba Inu doesn’t reproduce much, and being a highly reputable breeder, Jacey strictly limits the breeding seasons with her Shiba pack. Same as last time, this litter also had four puppies, and the parents are also champions, great pedigree. We had a such difficult time picking out which puppy to call it our own. Partly due to an even match among the puppies, but largely due to the fact we still have our QiuQiu in the back of our minds as comparison, and… just nothing seems can compare to our QiuQiu.

We did, however, picked out our new family member, and we’ve decided to pick him up after our wedding. That way we’ll have more time to welcome him to his new home. Can’t wait!

Just found out today that I have to make a trip to Penang, Malaysia to give a tour of our Penang factory to one of our top customer. The date our Japanese VIPs picked was Fri 6/1, which is the day before Frank/Connie’s wedding, where Vivian and I are part of the wedding party. humm… this calls for some creative trip planning.

Expedia, Travelocity, Orbitz and Sidestep, I opened them all up and punched in the travel dates and searched for flights by departure/arrival time. Interesting enough, this is one result Sidestep gave me. Now, all I need to do is to convince my management to flip the bill!

Last time we did this together was almost exactly three years ago. Back then, Jack was still here, I haven’t moved to Shanghai, and Andy hungout with us regularly. :-)

Time passed, people aged, but nonetheless, the feeling of childhood joy of kite flying in a lazy spring Sunday afternoon remains the same.

Despite knowing the pain and how long it will take us to wind the kite back, we still let loose the mile long string and the kite soared straight in to the heaven.

And of course, as predicted, we moaned and groaned for 40 minutes to retrieve the kite down…

Our usual crew of friends stopped by our place last night unexpectly. Knowing that I didn’t want to celebrate my BDay this year, they kept it low key. No birthday songs and no candles on the cake. I did receives nice thoughtful gifts, tasty Blackforest cake and warm hugs.

Just what I needed! Thanx guys!

puccakissI am a bad bad man! Not only I got Vivian sick, I indirectly got sick too! All three of us have had very similar flu-like symptoms: fever, soreness and sleepy/dizziness. Well, it really doesn’t surprise anyone to see Vivian getting my virus, considering she force kiss me something like zillion times a day :-D ; but what I am pondering on is, how did Vivian pass the viruses to ?? Hummm… I am curious!

Ladies, come clean!!
